Margie Cowlin
Colours, shapes and forms became part of my subconscious during my junior school years at the Waldorf School in the late 1960’s.
I grew up in Cape Town and have a close, personal connection to the mountains through my paternal family. Stomping through the fynbos with my husband and dogs has provided me with an unending source of inspiration to interpret, in my own way, the beauty and wonder of our very special Cape fynbos. The sudden bursts of colour of a crassula or full colour palette of a field of leucodendrons have become my painting obsession of late.
My paintings are in a number of homes in South Africa and England.
I first studied oil painting with Almarie Williams, just loved my pottery classes with Lorette Espi – and the mixed media classes
with Judy Moolenschot really blew my mind!
I am currently painting with a group of other dedicated women artists in a shared studio in Tokai and in my studio in my home in Noordhoek.
