Renee Morkel

Growing up at the foot of Table Mountain my life has been inseparable from nature and gardens found in Cape Town area. I want to share that beauty and awe I experience every time I find myself in these surrounds. Characterized by vibrant expressive colour, often leaning towards realism I enjoy capturing the warm Southern African heat interacting with our indigenous plants. My choice of products and mediums depend on what would best describe the mood I want to convey.

Education include: N6 Fine Arts Cape College; 3rd year History of Art BVA UNISA. I also studied under Laura Wenman, Paul Birchall, Elizabeth Gunter and I enjoy attending workshops to keep me inspired. Art societies I support include Art South Africa, South African Society of Artists, Watercolor Art South Africa, Constantiaberg Art Society and I serve on the committee of Blaauwberg Art Society.

I enjoy participating in art exhibitions where I have the opportunity to sell and interact with fellow artists and buyers both local and from abroad. I have been involved with community upliftment art projects through Iziko as well as teaching private extra mural art classes to kids. A highlight in my art career was teaching and exhibiting at Apple Farm Arts and Music Centre USA.
