Aretha
Barely 8 years old, Aretha had the incredible experience of standing in front
of Rembrandt’s “Night Watch”. The contrast between light and darkness made an indelible impression on her.
Being the child of an artist, Aretha followed in her mother’s footsteps and studied Fine Arts in the ’80s, followed by various courses, specializing in Pastel.
Spending extensive time visiting and working in Europe since 1999 has influenced her style and technique. Furthermore, a life-changing event contributed to a significant deepening in her painting. While under treatment for cancer, the truth that Light can never be overwhelmed by darkness, struck her anew and personally.
It is the moments in life, whether in personal circumstances or in world events, when Light and darkness play out against each other, knowing that darkness can never overcome Light, her soul finds expression in painting.
Painting is not only the expression of her soul, but also a privilege to testify about the Source of Light and Hope we have.
Her paintings have been virtually exhibited in various galleries in Europe. Locally she takes part in juried and open exhibitions.
Aretha has the privilege of having her painting “My Soul, Waiting” feature in the European THA Future Stars Magazine.
