Born and raised on the historic sheep farm Three Sisters in the Great Karoo, this rugged, majestic landscape remains my deepest inspiration and true home. From childhood farm chores to endless walks in the veld, the Karoo’s vast plains, flat-topped mountains, windmills, and glowing sunsets shape my artistic vision. After studying art in Bloemfontein and travelling Europe from 1999–2001—where I sketched in museums and sold watercolours in the UK—I returned to immerse myself in South African scenery. My work primarily captures Karoo landscapes, portraying mountains as characters, farmsteads as cherished homes, and the land’s tranquility amid challenges like drought and change. Through my paintings, I aim to ignite love for the Karoo and encourage visitors to experience its beauty.I work mainly in acrylics for their vibrancy and speed, while also embracing the unpredictable challenge of watercolours. My subjects often include landscapes, flowers, gardens, and occasional abstracts, alongside fantasy illustrations inspired by fairytales, mythology, and vintage books.Since 2008, I’ve taught inspiring adult art classes and workshops, and I enjoy occasional murals, public talks, and community projects. With a signature star-cross dedicating each piece to God, I live in Worcester with my husband and two children, returning to the farm whenever possible. My art celebrates the Karoo’s majesty—hoping to preserve its spirit and draw others to this extraordinary part of South Africa.
