Being a lifelong, self-taught artist, I have always struggled to get my work out into the world for others to enjoy (and possibly buy).
This is a real problem for most artists and it was this cold reality that inspired me to start Kunye Art Foundation.
Kunye Art Foundation is a registered NPO and NPC which is dedicated to supporting local South African artists – from the established to the up-and-coming ones – by offering a platform to display and sell their art locally and internationally.
Our first milestone was to sign up 10 artists. (Feel free to view our artists’ works on our website
www.kunyeartfoundation.org.)
Once that was accomplished, we would start with exhibitions. We reached that first milestone within our first 2 weeks – and have just secured our first exhibition, with Ludicrous Pop-Ups and Grand Daddy Hotel in Long Street, Cape Town on 5 October. With these well supported events, we hope to garner some publicity for our artists and maybe create a marketing opportunity.
