Description
Sculpture using mirror, wire, plaster of paris
77 x 45 x 18cm
This is a result of my very first attempt at body casting. A friend of mine agreed to pose. Unfortunately, she failed to mention she was claustrophobic and passed out 3/4 way through the molding process, breaking the Plaster of Paris molds in the process! Luckily, my daughter was there to help carry her indoors and she recovered within a few minutes. The molds took a bit of repair work but all came out way better than expected.
These molds were then used in a rotoscoping machine I made and melted wax poured in to eventually produce a shell master. This master was then used to fix a few imperfections and modify the work. A fiberglass mold was then made for a longer lasting mold which was used to create 3 different pieces so far.
