David Brazie

My name is David Brazie, a 26-year-old man from Mangochi in Malawi. Based in Melton, I focus on wood art, paintings and sculptures. I was born into a poor family of 4 children in a rural area, raised by my single mom. It was a painful time for her and hard for us, after the loss of our father.
Then when I was 10 years old, I met with another old man, a wood carver, who offered to teach me wood carvings. After he saw how good I was at drawing, I didn’t disappoint him. I said yes and he started teaching me until now. I’m doing well and improving on it. I was so appreciative to see how the little stand I started with, by selling my products I could share with my family and help pay for my schooling, to help my mother to afford to all 4 of us on her own.
This curio carver changed my and my family’s life. In time, I started sketching and painting and people liked my art, and it inspired people and they found it meaningful.
So, I have been doing many things, sculptures and different art in my area, but my aim is to spread my career and reach more people in order to help my family improve the situations that we are passing through.
I decided to travel here in town from Malawi rural, believing that here in town, it will be easy to me to meet with people who I should collaborate with to help me grow.
I use acrylic paint mostly in my art because it is good for paintings. I do unique and inspiring art.
When you like or buy my art it will mean you’ll be helping my family more and it will encourage me.
Enjoy my art.
