I’m Vanessa Macfarlane, an artist based in Durbanville, Cape Town.
I’ve been drawn to arts and crafts for as long as I can remember, always exploring new ways to express my creativity.
A few years ago, I discovered soft pastels—and it quickly became my favourite medium.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about the texture and richness of pastel, especially when I’m working on pieces inspired by animals and nature. These subjects feel closest to my heart, and I love capturing their beauty, personality, and quiet power through my art.

I’m still learning and growing every day, constantly inspired by the natural world around me. Whether it’s the soft gaze of a wild animal or the delicate detail of a leaf, I try to reflect those moments of connection in each piece I create.
