I was born in Argentina but have lived in South Africa since I was a teenager. I did not consider myself to be in any way artistically talented – I never had art as a school subject. I excelled in mathematics and science, studied agriculture, and worked on our farm and in our food factory for many years. Twenty years ago, I took up oil painting as a hobby to help relax – and loved it.
A very long break followed while raising our kids, but finally in 2024 I took up painting again, and had lessons from Rachelle Fourie (BA Visual Arts). I love painting flowers and landscapes – and take inspiration from the farmlands around us and the Swartland and West Coast views. It is a privilege to live in this corner of the world – with the most amazing flora and fauna. Table Mountain, vineyards, Namaqua flowers – I could paint a new painting every day for the rest of my life and not run out of ideas!
For me, painting is medicine. When life gets too busy and overwhelming, I take time out to paint. When I am stressed out and irritable, my husband tells me to please go paint! When I am content and happy, I paint …
Through my art I would like to invite you to pause, take a moment, take a breather and enjoy. Our daily life is often so busy, and our world is becoming such a mad place, that we need little islands of peace, quiet corners where we can reflect and slow down. I hope that with my art I can help create a peaceful and delightful corner for you!
